living room performances

Aged 30, Artistic Director Emma Jayne Park  was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.  During her treatment and remission she was deeply affected by being unable to access live performance. Throughout 2017 and 2018  Emma will undertake the first stages of research into developing quality theatre work that can be reshaped into intimate home-based performances that consider the specific needs of people who are house bound for medical reasons.

Working in partnership with The Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival and several other organisations, these short works will engage with a variety of themes and art forms to offer those who cannot attend the theatre the same privilege as our visiting audiences.  In undertaking this research Emma aims to develop a model for re-scaling and re-framing performance which can be employed by all performance makers in future to allow individuals living with chronic illness and their families an opportunity to bond over a shared live experience as it exists in both a public and a private space that can be controlled to meet healthcare needs.
